A brilliant mind with a slacker dress code, this guy got himself to the stars by acing flight school. After a little time serving in the Unification War (it wasn't a glamorous career), Wash became a pilot for hire. When he joined the Serenity crew, it was a perfect match. He loved the plane, he loved the Browncoat ethos and the ship's goals, and most of all, he loved the ship's second in command, Zoe. Sure, they got off to a rocky start, but they did eventually fall in love and get married. Wash was exactly the pilot you wanted to have around in a crisis -- panicked until the moment of extreme danger, when he was nothing but calm. He could fly his way out of anything. Until he was impaled by a harpoon thrown by a Reaver ship. He died at the controls.
